Chris Cuomo Gets SLAMMED By Social Media After Praising Brother and Attacking Florida Governor

In the latest installment of irony, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo questioned whether data from Florida’s Department of Health can be trusted.

Cuomo, who is the brother of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, reacted to ABC News reporting that Florida had fewer than 9,000 cases for the first time in two weeks.

Rather than celebrate progress against the deadly virus, the CNN anchor decided it was appropriate to question whether official tallies from Florida can be trusted. Perhaps Cuomo is used to how things are run by his brother in New York. As the Daily Caller reported,

“New York has omitted an unknown number of coronavirus deaths in recent reports regarding residents of nursing home and adult care facilities, the New York State Department of Health acknowledged in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“In early May, those reports quietly began omitting long-term care residents who died of coronavirus in hospitals. Even so, New York still leads the nation with 5,433 reported deaths at nursing homes and adult care facilities as of Wednesday.”

Perhaps the reporter felt that Florida was being worse hit than New York was earlier in the year. Unfortunately, other Twitter users clear that up soundly for Cuomo:

What might cause Chris Cuomo to try to discredit the positive results? Well, other recent interactions seem to indicate it’s simply because Governor DeSantis is Republican who has an ongoing feud with his brother, Andrew Cuomo. As the Daily Wire reports,

“The battle between the Cuomos and DeSantis is nothing new. In late June, after a reporter informed DeSantis that Andrew Cuomo was ‘considering a quarantine on travelers from Florida,’ DeSantis fired back a withering response as he obliquely referred to the New York state order that possibly doomed many elderly residents to die from the coronavirus: ‘I think governors are going to do what they need to do. I would just ask them if that’s done, just please do not quarantine any Floridians in the nursing homes in New York.’”

The real takeaways seems to be that CNN anchors and trust are two things that just don’t belong together.
