MSNBC Host Triggered Over Patriotism, ‘Disturbing’ to See ‘Dozens of American Flags’

I'm sorry to say it, but if you're and American and you're offended by the American flag, then you may need to start shopping around for a new country to live in because this isn't the place for you.

It's not that they're not welcome here, because they are, but to say something as ridiculous as being offended and afraid over an American flag because people actually love this country is so far outside the bounds of reality that I don't even know what to say.

Mara Gay, a member of the New York Times' editorial board, revealed to MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski that she was triggered by the sight of American flags on a weekend jaunt to Long Island.

Gay called out patriotic Americans for displaying the flags on their trucks alongside anti-Biden sentiments and Trump flags.

Gay claimed that many whites associate being American with whiteness. She saw their flags and bumper stickers as a sign of white Americans claiming the country for their own -- and excluding people of color. The liberal MSNBC contributor somehow managed to mistake patriotism for racism -- or at least pretend to. And it wasn't necessarily the combination of anti-Biden messages, pro-Trump banners and American flags that bothered her. Gay said the sight of the national flags alone was "just disturbing."

We can only assume that patriots of every race are disturbed by the mere idea that an influential member of the mainstream media would take pro-USA symbols as signs of racism. The New York Times publicly supported Gay's comments, saying that they were taken out of context.

Sonny Hostin said the same thing on The View,

They are living in fear for nothing because that's not at all what any of us mean by flying the American flag. I've never even met someone like that. This is just utter nonsense.

They may say that they feel that way, but they're not basing off of anything. They're just inferring that because they're flying a flag.
