With only six months into the current Democratic administration, people are already counting the days to the 2024 presidential election. For many, it cannot come fast enough.
If the Republicans have the right ticket, they could take back the White House. At a recent Republican Summit in Florida, two names are constants on the top of the list. They are former President Donald J. Trump and Ron DeSantis, the current Governor of the state of Florida. Some polls of the Conservative base show both of these men in the mid 70% range regardless of who is on the top of the ticket.
One name that is not on the list is former Vice President Mike Pence. To that end, history will not be repeating itself with a Trump-Pence candidacy. Currently, President Trump is considered the leader of the Party. His base sees President Trump as the overwhelmingly top choice so far to win the nomination of the Republican Party in the upcoming presidential race in 2024.
Some other names that have been tossed around for running for president in 2024 are Mike Pompeo, Nikki Haley, Sen. Rand Paul, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Tim Scott, Gov. Kristi Noem, Sen. Tom Cotton, and Sen. Josh Hawley.
I think what we're going to see in the next primary race is something that is going to be completely different than anything else that we've seen in the past. At this point, I do not see Ron DeSantis, Ted Cruz, or many other Republicans running against President Trump, let alone bad-mouthing him as they typically do during primaries in order to get into the White House. I think doing that would completely discredit the party as a whole and make it harder for Republicans to win.
Personally, I can't anyone other than Ron DeSantis or President Trump being the candidate.
